THE WHITE COLLECTION/info
HomePage Title

Don't forget that I clean, and restore paintings, and at very reasonable prices. I can be contacted through the Arts Centre.
I do not value paintings, as this is a task for valuers. The best ones are usually to be found at large auctioneers premises.
Below is a photo of part of the collection, with my son and I, which you may download at your leisure.
Within a few month's I may be able to show a before, and after picture to show you repairs, as I have been asked to repair a badly damaged still life.
The painting has arrived, so here is the resume of my assessment of what is needed, and its faults.
   (1)  The paint is dry, and dirty. needs cleaning, and enhancing
   (2)  The painting has holes in it. Needs repainting in several areas.
   (3)  The canvas is rotten.Needs removing from stretcher, and recanvassing, then replacing on stetcher.
   (4)  The paint has been scaped off in several places and needs building up to hide damage.
   (5) The stretcher is rotten and  a new one has to be made to replace the damaged one.

Here it is. Has been kept in a garden shed for years

Look closely and you will be able to see the light through the picture

Closeup of the bottom right hand corner. the paint is cracked, and the light brown is the rotten canvas. most of the painting is like this.

As can be seen, the picture has now been transfered to a new piece of canvas, using a very strong, and flexible glue. I now await the new stretcher, which is the only part of this restoration I don't do myself.

Today the new stretcher arrived so I mounted the painting onto it.

Here the painting is back on the easel ready for repainting where needed

The painting is now having the painted surface repaired, which is going to be a long job, as something has damaged much of the paint. Mixing this type of paint and getting it right is quite difficult, and requires a lot of patience.

ABOUT US
I have been collecting art for about 40yrs, and at one time owned 142 oil/acrylic paintings, which I have whittled down to 95, having given away some 47 of the not so good ones. Now I have a really nice collection which I use to raise money, not only for charity, but for other, what I consider to be, worthwhile causes.
I'm now 66 yrs of age, and have travelled the world, collecting as I go, and there are, in the collection, paintings from across the world, though I mostly show the English ones.
Anyone who thinks they cannot paint, or produce a painting is wrong, nearly all humans can!
If you would like me to prove that you can then leave a message on the link below with your username, and email address. This is a free service!
You can also contact me direct at michaelwhite@live.com . You will receive a reply.
